The Challenge

Middle managers are the silent load-bearers of the organization.

They translate strategy into daily action — yet they are the least likely to receive structured development, even though they face the most classic leadership challenges every day.

60%
of middle managers have never received formal leadership training
2.1×
more time spent firefighting than on strategic thinking
70%
of employees who leave do so because of their direct manager

Insights to leadership development

What if your middle managers were fluent in the four most important leadership skills?

Not vague leadership theory — concrete, everyday muscle memory for the moments that actually shape a team's performance.

Leadership Essentials · CGP Europe03 / 11
The Solution

Four skills, four months, four modules.

Leadership Essentials is an intensive 4-month program for middle managers. Not a generic training — the in-depth mastery of four concrete, everyday leadership skills in a group format, complemented by individual coaching.

Practical

After each module, concrete tools they can use the very next week.

Structured

4 months, 4 modules, 8 group days, 4 individual coaching sessions.

Cohort

Closed group of 8–12 — they learn from each other, a network is built.

Measured

Pre/post 360° assessment, HR report — progress is visible.

Key principle: Not a coaching certification — leadership skills development. Coaching complements, does not replace, structured learning.

The Four Modules

The 4 core situations of a middle manager.

1
Delegation & Prioritization
How do I stop being my own bottleneck?
  • Eisenhower matrix & RACI
  • "I cannot delegate this" — and other traps
  • Empowerment vs. control
  • Personal time management (Pareto, time-blocking)
2
Feedback & Performance
How do I give feedback that helps, not hurts?
  • SBI model (Situation–Behavior–Impact)
  • Constructive and corrective feedback
  • Structure of quarterly 1:1 conversations
  • Performance review with a coaching mindset
3
Conflict Resolution
How do I resolve tension without escalation?
  • Thomas–Kilmann conflict model
  • Assertive communication
  • Mediator role in team conflict
  • Handling manager–subordinate conflict
4
Leadership Presence & Influence
How do I become an authentic leader with my own style?
  • Executive presence
  • Influence without formal authority
  • Change management in the team
  • Building your personal leadership brand

The Program Arc

4 months, 8 group days, 4 individual coaching sessions.

Not an intensive week — a 4-month learning journey. Between modules there is a 3–4 week integration period when participants practice in their own teams.

2
Month 2
